WATER SOFTENERS: RESIN SOFTENING
The water used everyday contains chemicals, calcium and magnesium, which determine its hardness and form scalings in the hydraulic circuits. Such problems are eliminated by means of a chemical process called softening. In fact, during the softening process, the calcium and magnesium salts present in the water exchange with the relevant sodium salts by means of ion exchange resins. That's why it is necessary to use a range of specific instruments called softeners, which are easy to install in any civil and industrial environment.
GENERAL FEATURES
Life, reliability, safety and simplicity are the criteria characterizing MARETTO ENGINEERING softeners, which can be divided into 3 categories:
  • M SERIES (Domestic Softeners up to 70 liters of resin)
  • D SERIES (Standard Softeners from 85 to 300 liters of resin)
  • A SERIES (Industrial Softeners from 400 to 3.000 liters of resin)
In addition to the 3000 liters resin models, we are available to design specific projects.
M SERIES SOFTENERS
CONSTRUCTION

These instruments are available either in the cabin single-body or double-body version. The tanks containing the resins are made of fibreglass. The valve adopted in this case is a Noril Fleck valve and can have a time or volume reclamation as well as a resin disinfection or non-disinfection execution. The storage tank containing the sodium chloride is made of polyethylene.

MODELS
  • Single-body Type: MSNC time reclamation MSDC volume reclamation without disinfection with disinfection
  • Double-body Type: MSN time reclamation MSD volume reclamation without disinfection with disinfection
D SERIES SOFTENERS
CONSTRUCTION

This type is always available in the double-body version and can have a time, volume or exchange execution.
As far as the D Series is concerned, the tanks containing the resins are made of electrowelded carbon steel and they are hot-galvanized inside and painted outside with antirust standard varnish. The valves adopted for this series are bronze Fleck valves and can have a Time, Volume or Exchange reclamation as well as a resin disinfection or non-disinfection execution. The outside pipes are made of zinc-plated steel.
The storage tanks containing the sodium chloride are made of rigid polyethylene and are complete with automatic floating salt water suction valves.

MODELS
  • DTB-DVB-DSB: Low Flow per Hour
  • DTA-DVA-DSA: High Flow per Hour

A SERIES SOFTENERS
CONSTRUCTION

Models available with time, volume or exchange execution.
As far as the three ATI, AVI, ASI series are concerned, the tanks containing the resins are made of electrowelded carbon steel and they are hot-galvanized inside up to the diameter of 1400 mm, painted inside with epoxy varnish and painted outside with antirust varnish over such diameter. The outside pipes are made of zinc-plated steel and are complete with cast iron hydropneumatic valves.
The storage tanks containing the sodium chloride are made of rigid polyethylene and are complete with automatic floating salt water suction valves.

SOFTENER CHOICE METHOD
The cycle values reported in the design table refer to a conventional hardness of 1 °F (°F = French degree corresponding to 10 ppm of CaCO3). Please follow the instructions listed below to choose the softener:
  • Define the cycle, that is the quantity of water to be softened within two reclamations. This value is expressed in m3
  • Define the water hardness in °Fr by means of a chemical analysis
  • Multiply the two values, that is m3 x °Fr
  • The value obtained must be included in the two cycle values reported in the table (Normal cycle – Maximum cycle).
  • Check if the chosen instrument is able to supply the desired peak rate of flow.
Example: Cycle110 m3 x Hardness 30 °Fr = 3.300 m3/°Fr. You can choose either the model ATI/500 or the model ATI/600 according to the desired peak rate of flow.
